Special Session: AI Innovations in Autism Diagnosis

This special session explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis by addressing challenges such as delayed detection and reliance on subjective assessments. It highlights recent advances in AI-powered tools,
including machine learning models for analysing multimodal data (e.g., speech, facial expressions, and neuroimaging), while addressing key considerations like interpretability, ethics, and equitable access. Attendees will gain insights into successful applications of AI in
early screening, personalised interventions, and long-term monitoring, as well as the collaborative efforts needed to bridge research and clinical practice. Designed for AI researchers, clinicians, and psychologists, this session aims to inspire innovation and foster collaboration to improve diagnostic accuracy and outcomes for individuals with autism.

We invite academic researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to contribute to this special session to explore the intersection of autism and AI. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • AI-driven early detection and screening methods for ASD.
  • Multimodal data integration (e.g., neuroimaging, behaviour tracking, genetics).
  • Generative AI applications in autism research, such as synthetic data generation or simulating therapeutic scenarios.
  • AI for personalising intervention and monitoring care outcomes.
  • Interpretability and explainability in autism diagnosis tools.
  • Ethical and legal considerations in deploying AI for autism.
  • Case studies of successful AI implementations in clinical settings.
